II. The Review
Book Title: Normal People
Author: Sally Rooney
The LILLICOM Score
L – Language: 3/10
It goes fast and easy – not to be taken as an indicator of low-grade literature!
I – Immersion: 10/10
Rooney knows how to capture “now” and will take you there.
L – Likability: 9/10
I read the book at the same age Rooney wrote it – maybe that’s why!
I – Impact: 7/10
It made me want to write my own book.
C – Concept: 2/10
It is a normal book about normal people – no surprises here.
O – Outcome: 6/10
The hardest part to evaluate in the context of this book; I was feeling happy for the characters, that’s important!
M – Messages: 8/10
I could relate to the topics because youth is something that we all experience, and I am somewhat familiar with the Irish setting.

Final Thought
This book was my first encounter with Sally Rooney, and with the incredible ability of Irish writers to verbalise day-to-day stuff. This book made me want to write a book of my own one day!
