The Girl from Tahrir Square is a first-person account of the days of struggle and hope that would lead to the end of the Mubarak regime. The Egyptian uprising comes to life through the eyes of Amal, a twenty-year-old girl with a thousand dreams and just as many cages she wishes to escape. Her personal quest for freedom meets the quest of the entire Egyptian people: Tahrir Square is the birthplace of the Arab Spring, quickly becoming the symbol of an Egypt that has begun to demand democracy and liberty. The young protagonist, along with friends and peers she met in previous months on social media, takes to the front lines to shout: 'The people want to bring down the regime!'. These are extraordinary weeks, lived between love and death, which will lead Amal toward a deeper knowledge of herself, as well as the secrets hidden within her family.
